About Tofu-Oatmeal Kebabs
This recipe was given to me by my friend Swati. I had to opportunity to eat it at her house one day and loved it. I was surprised that the ingredient list was this kebabs recipe was so minuscule and basic. Since then, I always make it when I need something quick.
If you have always wondered about tofu recipes and what to make with tofu, I would recommend you to try out this recipe. You will be truly surprised. It is also a wonderful oil-free kebab recipe.
This recipe is so easy to make that I did not include step-by-step pictures. However, you can check out my video in the recipe card below or watch it on Youtube (click here).
Ingredients for Kebabs
1 container (15 oz) firm or extra firm tofu
1/2 cup regular oats
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 cup fresh bread crumbs
salt and pepper to taste
Explanation of Ingredients
Extra Firm Tofu: I use extra-firm tofu for this recipe. You can substitute it with firm tofu. However, do not use soft tofu, as that will completely fall apart when mixing with other ingredients.
Garlic powder: garlic powder adds a well needed flavor as well as aroma to this recipe. If you don’t have garlic powder, you can substitute it with 11/2 tsp of chopped garlic.
Bread Crumbs: bread crumbs help bind these kebabs. If you don’t have bread crumbs, you can add 2 slices of bread and run it in a blender. However, use only 1/2 cup.
Chili Powder: is to give this kebabs some heat. However, with the amount of chili powder I have included, these kebabs are not very spicy. You can add more chili powder if you wish.

I usually say “No” to tofu also, just never have learned to enjoy it. This looks enough like hot wings to maybe trick my stomach!

I’ve never gotten use to eating tofu not sure why maybe it’s because I can never cook it to taste good.

I’m not a fan of Tofu either – but I’m willing to take the challenge and give it a try… Perhaps the sauce will make them super yummy as well!
