Last summer my husband and I painted almost 8 areas (6 rooms, 1 hallway and 1 powder room) in our house. Working only during the evenings and weekends it took us about 5 weeks to finish those many rooms. We still have about 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms to paint and we are going to tackle that this summer. The reason I am posting about this is because one of our family friends wanted some tips as he is planning to paint one of the rooms in his house.
Now, those who are familiar with painting know that applying Frog Tape around the ceilings, door and window trims is widely encouraged by the painting industry. Applying Frog Tape can be and is a very time consuming endeavor. So while discussing this with our friend we told him how to avoid Frog tape by using the Shur Line Edger. By placing the Shur Line Edger creatively we ourselves were able to save time and avoid Frog Tape completely. So this post is for our friend (you know who you are). Check out the pictures below and follow this technique. You will never have a need for tape and I seriously hope the Frog Tape makers don’t get annoyed by our tip.
All you have to do is load the the edger with the paint and place the edge with wheels against the surface or trims and slowly move in the direction you are comfortable with. The wheels on the edger allows for smooth movement. Once all the edges are done you can paint the rest of the wall with a regular roller without any fear of messing the trims or ceilings. The only requirement on your part is a steady hand.
As you can see with the Shur Line Edger we were able to get beautiful and flawless result.
So here is my question to all my readers and visitors…. What will you choose, Shur Line Edger or Frog Tape?
