About the Recipe
If you grew up in India or are Indian-American, you are likely familiar with mango lassi – a delicious and refreshing popular Indian drink that is perfect for the hot and humid summers.
Like most Indians, I grew up with this fabulous drink. I could not wait for summer when mangoes were abundant, and my mom would quickly whip out Mango lassi for us. Not only would it quench our thirst, it would also fulfill our souls. It became a staple summer beverage.
I feel fortunate that now I make this lassi for my girls. They love it. Even though it is a summer drink, my girls love it so much that they want to have it year-round. So for that reason, sometimes I make mango lassi with canned milk or frozen mango pieces. These ingredients are convenient and a delicious substitute for fresh mango pieces. This recipe uses minimum ingredients and is ready in minutes.

Basic Ingredients of Mango Lassi
Mango: Fresh ripe mango is the best ingredient for Mango Lassi. However, if you don’t have access to ripe mango, you can use canned mango pulp or frozen mango chunks.
Yogurt: is an important ingredient for making lassi. I use whole-fat yogurt for that rich, creamy taste. However, you can use low-fat yogurt. I also prefer to use yogurt from Indian stores. It is tangier as compared to the ones available in other stores.
Sugar: I use sugar for this recipe because my family prefers a sweet-tasting lassi. You can use any sweetener of your choice.
Cardamom Powder: is the aromatic that you will need a hint of when sipping this drink. It is fine if you don’t have it and can skip it.
