My little one ‘S’ and I made this Lollipop Craft for Valentine’s Day. TEE who is a teenager now is not so interested anymore. It is not a cool thing for her to do. However ‘S’ had to give out treats to all her and this is what we made.
With Valentine craft in mind, I went to Walmart yesterday morning. At that time I was not sure what I would make, but I still picked up some basic materials. I knew I wanted to use heart shaped lollipops. Once I came home, I played around tried out some things. That is when I decided I am going to make fans (I know it sounds crazy, but that is the only practical thing I could think off).
Once ‘S’ came from school, we set out to make this lollipop craft. Including her teacher we had to make twenty four of them and took us about a good 2 hours to finish it. You can check out the instructions below.
1) I started off with a purple construction paper. I know purple does not scream traditional Valentine, but ‘S’ loves the purple. She was pretty adamant that I use it and I agreed. I folded it two times and cut it into 4 pieces. I took one piece and folded in an accordion style
2) I then folded this accordion paper in the middle and pressed it firmly.
3) I glued the open inward edges in the center and made sure they stuck together.
4) As soon as the glue had dried ‘S’ wrote out her friend’s name and also her name at the bottom of the fan and then proceeded to open it up.
5) Now this next step was a bit tricky. I adhered some double sided tape to the back of the lollipop and tried to stick it in the center of the fan. I noticed some of the lollipops were not sticking properly. So in addition to using double sided tape, I also stapled them to secure them properly and to make sure they did not fall off.
6) Lastly, to finish it off I tied a cute little bow with a piece of ribbon.
Since it turned out well, ‘S’ was willing to compromise. She allowed me to also use pink construction paper to create the fan. So in the end we made couple of pink and purple lollipop fans.
Today she came home from school and told me all the kids in her class were excited to get this lollipop craft. More than the lollipop they actually loved the fan and played around with it.
