I am back! After taking a great and extended summer vacation to India, I am back. The vacation was much needed and although I was not feeling it at that time, I am glad I went away. I have come back refreshed, rejuvenated and raring to go. My time in Bombay (Mumbai) was fantastic and I almost feel like bragging about it to who ever is willing to listen. I went to places I never been before, ate food I had never eaten before, met with so many wonderful people, caught up relatives and extended family members, and most importantly spent time with my parents and my siblings.
My girls TEE and S had a great time too. Any worries I had of them not adapting to the Mumbai climate and environment were dismissed as soon as we touched down. They had tons of fun with their cousins. Having absolutely no extended family in US, it was a welcome change for them as they met and spent time with their grandparents, uncles and aunts. When it was time to return we came back with heavy hearts. TEE and S wanted to spend some more time in Bombay.
Any way all good things have to come to an end. In our case it has only been paused until we go over again. The schools have begun and for the first time in my life as a mom, both TEE and S are in school the whole day. I have more than enough time in my hands and I have some great projects lined up. So watch out for this space and in the meantime I hope you enjoy the pictures I have of our vacation in India…
It rained all the time and this was the lovely view from my brother-in-law’s condo.
It’s always bumper to bumper traffic even when there is no traffic.
These were taken by TEE while traveling around Mumbai Streets.
As much as TEE loves to get henna tattoo on her hand, S absolutely hates it.
Had to have some Indian-Chinese delicacy (Chicken Manchurian) while we were there..
Visited the Sanjay Gandhi National Park which is literally my Mother-in-law’s backyard. The girls got an opportunity to say hi to their four legged friends.
Breathtaking view from top of the park.
Visited the Pagoda which is just on the far end of Mumbai. It has been in construction since 1997 and when completed will boast of having the biggest meditation center.
Any trip to Bombay is incomplete without a trip to the beach.
And we traveled through the infamous Mumbai trains. We could only muster the courage to do it on a Sunday.
Since it was on TEE’s bucket list we visited Gateway of India.
S was more interested in the cotton candy
and the spectacular view of Marine Lines. I wish whole of Mumbai could be like this.
Nightime in Mumbai. The road are decked with lights to welcome the Lord Ganesh for the festival of Ganesh Chathurti.

How beautiful your photos are! Welcome back from your vacation. It’s always wonderful to be on one, and it is almost always heartbreaking to leave it – and be back to “normal” life. I have always loved the henna tattoos – and I love how intricate and beautiful they are!
