Yesterday I had the opportunity to attend Live with Kelly and Michael Show. It was not a blogger event. In fact I went with one of my friend who was kind enough to get a ticket for me. Since it was the first time I was attending any kind of live TV programming I was excited.
My friend and I had to leave home early so that we could get to the ABC studios by 8.00 am. Luckily as there were no unforeseen events we managed there in time. We only had to wait a couple of minutes in the lobby before we were ushered into the studio.
My friend had VIP tickets, so we were seated in the front row (It is the first time I ever had a VIP status). That was fabulous. I cannot believe how close we were to Kelly and Michael. On the TV it looks like the audience is at a distance, but we were about 10 feet away from their main desk.
I watched the staff and crew get all the stuff ready. I had imagined everyone running around crazy trying to get things done but was I wrong. Everyone knew their part and it was being done quietly and smoothly like a well-oiled machine. As we got closer to the show the producer Gelman came by and introduced himself. He thanked the audience for being there and explained few things to them.
At exactly 9.00 am Kelly and Michael walked in and all of us applauded (some of the audience members went on an applause overdrive… you could hear hooting and hollering). Yes, it was LIVE! In fact my DH was watching the show at home and said he saw me. It think it was the highlight of his life; seeing me on TV and also watching the Kelly and Michael show for the first time.
Both Kelly and Michael were super professional. I have to say they compliment each other perfectly. They did their initial bit of talking about their weekend and then went ahead with some light bantering and proceeded to do the daily Trivia.
During the commercial break Kelly and Michael got up to interact with the audience. Michael came over towards us and shook hands which I thought was really cool of him. He also entertained the audience. I have to admit, on TV I never found him funny, but he is really funny, interactive and so at ease.
When they came back from the break, Kelly and Michael welcomed their first guest Charlize Theron. She was there to promote her movie Mad Max. She is so gorgeous. I could not help staring at her.
After another commercial break they welcomed Tom Brokaw. I was in awe to see this legendary broadcaster. He talked about his experience with cancer and how he was dealing with it.
Kelly and Michael then ended the show with a segment call Math Challenge. They invited the winner of MathCount 2015 and competed in a friendly game. Obviously they lost horribly.
But that was not all.. we had a surprise. They taped some additional interviews with two more celebrities Alex Trebek and Carla Guigino. I guess it was our lucky day.
It was a fun and entertaining experience. It was the opposite of everything I had imagined. I am so thankful to my friend because of whom I was able to see and experience live TV
