Green Masala Shrimp Curry, is a refreshing recipe. It is refreshing because the base of the curry is made with green herbs like cilantro (coriander leaves) and mint.
This recipe is not a traditional Mangalorean recipe. My mom used to make it occasionally and when she did, we loved it because it was so different from the coconut curries she usually did.
I like to make this recipe, especially during Summertime. The sweetness of the shrimp with the mildly spicy herbaceous curry is a perfect combination and goes well with rice, rice-based items (dosa or noodles) and white bread. You can also pair it up with chappati (roti) like my husband does.

Notes:
For this recipe of Green Masala Shrimp Curry, you can use any kind of shrimp; small or large. If you check the recipe you will see, I also use dried tiny shrimps to add a stronger shrimp flavor. The shrimp that we get here is mostly farm-raised. In India, we made this recipe with wild shrimp from the ocean. The flavor profile of those shrimps is different from farm-raised shrimp. They have a stronger aroma and sweet taste of the ocean if you know what I mean. Using dried shrimps is totally optional. However, if you are looking to buy it, you can check out Asian stores.
