Last Friday we got an opportunity to visit and watch the Monster Truck Destruction Tour. It was our first time, so we did not know what to expect. I knew my little one ‘S’ was excited but TEE, who is a teenager now did not want to be there at all. In her opinion she would rather be at a concert or Broadway show than watch over sized trucks crush smaller cars.
We were offered free tickets, which included Pit passes too. With the Pit passes we would have been able to meet the drivers, get the autographs and pose for pictures. Unfortunately we reached late and were not able to make it to the pit.
Anyway when it was time, we made our way to our seats, which was at the upper level. I have to say it was wonderful because our view from that point was great. It was not too close and not too far.
Before the show began, the audience members were given an opportunity to ride one of the truck for $10 per person. The ride on the Beast of the Nation truck looked fun but at the same time scary. You could see those people hanging on to their dear life.
Did I mention this was our first time watching this event? As such we were totally unprepared. The description and program warned us of loud noise but in our naivety we did not expect it to be so intolerably loud. When all of the trucks started at the same time, it was scary for ‘S’ and she started crying. It was then I noticed other kids wearing ear muffs. Fortunately I was able to grab some ear plugs and ear muffs from a vendor who was selling it at the venue.
You see her smiling face? She was okay once the ear muffs were in place and she really started enjoying from that point on.
The show began promptly and once it started it was a treat to watch the monster trucks in action. I was amazed at the skills of the drivers who were able to control those monster beasts. The announcer was a fun guy kept the crowd entertained and interactive. One by one the trucks made their way and crushed the smaller cars which were provided by Junkyard Barbie a local junkyard run by all women.
Our personal favorite was the Crushstation. For those who don’t know, it is the truck with a lobster body. The crowd cheered and went wild for Crushstation and needless to say, it won that round.
And then it was time for a quick break. You can see the crew in the background prepare for the next segment.
After intermission it was the turn of the Motorcross Riders. These were two young guys on their bikes doing dare devil stunts. They started off with simple jumps high up in the air and then advanced to more complicated flips and maneuvers. It was a heart stopping and thrilling at the same time.
Finally there was another round of Monster Truck Destruction. This time the Crushstation managed to destroy the pretty pink van which made all of the kids very happy. Crushstation also won the second time around.
As for us, we went totally unprepared and came out completely entertained. ‘S‘ was so happy with the whole show that she told me she would brag about Monster Truck Destruction to her classmates and I agreed with her.
If like us you have never attended a Monster Truck Destruction Tour, you are missing out on a lot of entertainment. So make sure to check it out whenever they are in town.
Disclosure: We received complimentary tickets for this event. However all opinions are my honest and my own and have not been influenced by anyone.

I attended a Monster Jam event in St. Louis just last weekend. There were a couple of variants from the show you attended, but it had the same premise. We had a blast and would absolutely attend again.

I would love to take my sons and nephews to see something like this. I just think it would be cool to hear the roar and the crunching.

So cool! I remember I was in the city with my son and he saw a poster for the Monster Truck show and he asked to go. He’s always been a huge fan of cars. I will have to check for tickets when they come into town again!

My sister and her boyfriend went to a Monster Truck Demolition in Peoria, IL . Her boyfriend was a Monster Truck driver. They had a Powder Puff division so he signed my sister up to be in it. She was so mad, because she was scared. However, he rode with her and told her what to do and she ended up in first place. She brought home the biggest trophy I ever saw, lol
