Finding the perfect car is essential for us. Our family car currently is the almost 18-year-old Honda Accord. Although this car has served us well, in another year or it will be time to replace it.
So my husband and I are diligently doing our homework. From our personal experience of buying and driving three different types and makes of cars, we have decided on these simple criteria.
Space and Seating
Even though we are a family of four, we need a car big enough with at least 7 to 8 seats. My girls are involved in various activities, which mean dropping and picking them off and carpooling with their friends. So in our situation, we know that we would either need a minivan or an SUV.
We would like the interior space to be big and comfortable. This is especially essential when we have to drive or travel long distances or out of state.
Storage
Like most families, storage is something, which is also a deciding factor for us. Being able to comfortably store my little one’s softball equipment is vital. The ability to carry multiple luggage or transport medium size furniture would be an awesome feature.
Safety
Safety is something we cannot compromise on. We would like the car to be equipped with some of the latest advanced safety features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist system, roll stability control, anti-skid system and more
Entertainment
Like I mentioned before, both my girls are in many of the activities. So as a family we spend a lot of time on the road. Keeping my girls entertained or having the latest entertainment features like having HDMI ports for backseat occupants would be such a blessing. Having multiple screens to play content from DVDs, Blu-Ray would also be a wonderful thing.
Temperature settings & control
We are also looking at cars with dual temperature control system. Being able to control the temperature in our cars would be particularly helpful for me as a driver, and my kids in the passenger seat in the rear to set it as per our comfort level.
One of the places which we have been referencing online is Cars.com. They have all types, makes and models of cars which make researching easy. They also have an easy to use car loan/lease calculator for estimation of monthly car payments (click here).
