If you have been reading my posts, you will know that we were selected to host a #DisneySide Celebrations Party. Luckily for us it was just in time as I was planning to celebrate ‘S’ eight birthday. For some reason we got two party kits — no theme and Disney Villain theme. I personally was happy because we had invited over 20 kids and upon confirmation I was able to use both.
We had our party two weeks back and I would have posted earlier but could not as my site was under DDOS attack. So that meant I had to wait a while before I could post. I don’t want to bore you with all the details as I am more excited to write about the actual party and all the fun we had.
First off the weather was great and as much as I was worried that we would have a snow-stormed out weekend we did not. Secondly all the kids showed up and that meant we had a full house.
The party was at 2.00 in the afternoon, so I started off the morning by making the Rice Krispies Mickey Cake. I had seen some one post it on the #DisneySide Celebration Facebook page and decided, I would use the mickey pan I got in the kit to make the rice Krispies cake. I have to say, it was one the of the easiest cake I ever made.
Next I decided to make cake pops. In the party kit we had received the Duff Tie Die cake mix. So I baked the cake a night before the party. Crumbled them, formed them into balls and kept them in the refrigerator overnight. The next morning I melted some Wilton candy melts, attached lollipop sticks to the cake balls and proceeded to finish off all the pops (this one was time consuming). I wish I had made them a little smaller. Before the candy melts set, I asked ‘S’ to sprinkle Wilton Sprinkles (also included in the kit) over them to make them all pretty and colorful.
In the meantime, my DH and TEE helped set the table. By this time everything was a blur. I was running around like crazy trying to finish off 100 little things.
As for the party favors you will not believe I finished them just an hour before the party. I used the Princess Nail Polishes, the Frozen Fruit snacks, pencils and crayons, combined with other stuff from the Walmart and made up cute little party favors.
At 2.00 pm exactly the kids started arriving. After that it was an organized chaos. To be honest I never thought seven and eight year old girls would be this noisy, but they were. Anyway as soon as all the other kids had arrived TEE organized a game of freeze dance. After that was done, the girls (and two boys) were exhausted and we decided they could watch TV while eating their snacks.
In our list of games we had included pin the mouth on Mickey. We found a spot and allowed the birthday girl to pin first.
Once all the kids had their turn, our Mickey looked like this. Happy all over 🙂
Finally it was time to cut the cake. TEE helped ‘S’ with the cake cutting. You can see the kids could not wait to dig into the Rice Krispies Mickey Cake. I have to say the cake pops and the Rice Krispies Mickey cake was a huge hit.
It was then time for pizza. As they eat, they watched Disney Channel. When everyone was done with eating we played the final game of Disney Bingo. Since I had two packets of Bingo cards, it was more than enough for all the kids. We had to hurry up with the Bingo since it was time to wrap up the party and some of the kids had to go home.
Overall, ‘S’ and her friends had a great time. She had such a great time that she said she was looking forward to doing this every year.
